Blog on 15 September ... Battle of Britain Day

The Battle of Britain was fought to determine who would control the sky over Southern England.

If the Germans defeated Fighter Command, then invasion would follow. If the British continued to exist as an effective fighting force, then it would not.

15 September was the day that the Battle of Britain was seen to turn decisively in favour of Fighter Command.
